The brown stew fungus (Stropharia rugoso-annulata), also called wine-red stropharia, is suitable for growing on straw bales or chopped straw.
The mushroom requires contact to the soil or ground and may spread from the original position in the garden e.g. onto the straw in strawberry beds.
