Pink oyster mushroom

The pink oyster mushroom (Pleurotus salmoneo-stramineus) is a relative of the "standard" oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) and is sometimes called the flamingo mushroom. It is not native to Western Europe but comes from the tropics. Accordingly, it need lots of warmth to grow mushrooms on logs. In colder locations in Europe it's best to provide some protection for the logs in winter, e.g. using fir tree branches.
The pink oyster mushroom is easy to grow indoors throughout the year in flower pots on straw pellets. Our grain spawn can also be used to grow it on straw bales.
The pink oyster mushroom turns orange brown after cooking.
