After more than 10 years, we still get a lot of pleasure from growing our own edible mushrooms at home. It's a fascinating hobby and we are not always looking for maximum yields, and sometimes the shiitake logs end up getting used for something else. In the photo below, a thrush has chosen to build a nest on top of the mushroom log:
We get regular mushroom harvests from our garden more or less throughout the year except for the coldest winter months. So we can also give you some good tips about cooking with mushrooms. Nicola Krämer and Jutta Grimm have written a vegetarian cookbook with many recipes:
"Shiitake und Austernpilze - Anbau im eigenen Garten, vegetarische Rezepte" from Nicola Krämer & Jutta Grimm, pala-Verlag, 139 pages. Unfortunately for English readers it's only in German. We want to wish you lots of fun growing mushrooms indoors and in the garden and are happy to answer any of your questions.

P.S: Maybe you have noticed the little " GoGreen" sticker on our DHL parcels?
We participate in the DHL GoGreen program for Germany. This means that the parcels are sent to you carbon neutral and thus environmentally friendly. DHL calculates the CO2 emissions resulting from the shipment of our parcels and compensates this with environmental projects which save the same amount of CO2. With the GoGreen program, we have chosen to pay slightly higher shipping costs as our contribution to protecting the environment.
