The shiitake grain spawn in this category is a special strain which is only intended for substrate mixtures based on wood chips or sawdust. Order products from this category if you want to produce substrates using your own recipes.

Substrate blocks are mainly used in commercial mushroom farms. We do not supply recipes for making your own substrate blocks, but we sell Shiitake substrate kits with shiitake spawn and preheated wood chips which are suitable for both commercial and hobby growers.

Oyster mushrooms can also be grown on wood chips, but are normally grown on straw.
